Why did Little Joys change their gummies recommendation from 2+ years to 4+

Why did Little Joys change their gummies recommendation from 2+ years to 4+

If you've been giving our gummies to a child under 4, here's the first and most important thing: your child is completely fine.

We're updating the recommended age on all our gummies from 2+ to 4+. The gummy itself hasn't changed - same prebiotic fibre, same fruit-based pectin, the same safe ingredients as always. This is our own call, and it's a small, careful one. Here's exactly what it means.

What's changed (and what hasn't)

Only one thing is different: the number on the label.

The gummy is exactly what it's always been - the same prebiotic fibre, the same fruit-based pectin, the same safe ingredients as always. What it does for your child hasn't changed either.

So if your little one already loves them, nothing about the product is any different today than it was yesterday.

So why change the age at all?

Paediatricians generally advise that children under 4 are still learning to chew thoroughly - and chewy foods of any kind, including gummies (ours or anyone's), are best introduced once chewing is well developed.

So this isn't about what's in the gummies. It's about how little mouths handle the texture.
And honestly, we'd rather be more careful than we strictly need to be. That's the deal we made with you the day you first trusted us.

Why we landed on 4+ years

Little Joys was never only about nutrition. It's just as much about taking a bit of the worry off your plate when you're deciding things for your child. So when there was even a little room for doubt, the choice was easy. We've gone with the more careful 4+ recommendation, by our own choice.

And just to be completely straight about what this is: it's an update to our age guidance and nothing more. The gummy is the same as it ever was. We've simply chosen a more careful age to recommend it from, by our own choice.

What this means for the pack you have

We're updating the recommended age on our website today(2nd Sept, 2026).

Our gummies are formulated according to safety guidance for children aged 2+. We're proactively moving our recommendation to 4+ because children between 2 and 4 years may have different chewing abilities, and we don't want any parent to second-guess whether their child can chew a gummy properly.

While we now recommend our gummies for children aged 4 and above, if your child is between 2 and 4 years old, has consumed gummies before and chews well, you may give them our gummies under adult supervision.

The bottom line

Nothing about the gummy - 'what's in it', or 'what it does for your child' - has changed.
What has changed is that we're holding ourselves to a stricter line than we had to, just so you have more clarity, and more confidence in what you're giving your child.

That's a trade we'll make every single time.
With care, Team Little Joys
